Diane Tobin, Allen Aungst, Herman Clemens, Jerry Wise, and Secretary - Treasurer Kathy
Ferguson. Also present were Judith Lehman, Sallie Deichert, and Donald Wenrich.

Public Comment - No comments.
The meeting began with discussion of the Township’s emergency response to the flooding
over the weekend. Diane Tobin said that per Crystal DeLong 75% of damages could be
reimbursed. Larry Zimmerman said he is waiting for DeLong to let him know how residents
should apply to the County for assistance. Tobin said she had contacted John Heinbach to
survey the roads and assess the damages from the flooding. Donald Wenrich said the
supervisors should put something in the newspaper instead of waiting for the residents to
call. Ferguson said she had given a list of the calls to Zimmerman that she received and said
that when she talked to Mr. Matz from the County Emergency Management Office she did not
know that the Township had declared an emergency, she did not find out that information until
two days later. Tobin asked if Delong had contacted her and Ferguson said no one had
contacted her. Aungst said DeLong should have contacted Ferguson. Ferguson said she
has notified the County office and is now telling them that she needs to have her name taken
off as the Emergency Management Deputy because she cannot be responsible for something
she doesn’t have the training for and does not get the information she needs to work with.
Ferguson said she does not want her name on the emergency plans and does not want to be
responsible during the next disaster. Tobin said she had received several calls and
apparently there were communication problems. Tobin said there are people who are
interested in the position and further discussion followed on the possibility of setting up
dumpsters for the residents.
Aungst will call the Borough to see if the township residents can use their dumpsters.
Ferguson reported the 2004 actual figures on the budget worksheet are through September.
Discussions on taxes began with estimating the per capita tax, taxing real estate for
businesses and not residents, the possibility of a vending machine tax and the possibility of
getting a share of a room tax if the County collects it from hotels in the township. It was
agreed to have the solicitor look into it.
Aungst discussed the possibility of selling the old grader because the front end loader has a
plow on and they don’t need the grader.
Nextel phones were discussed as an option instead of the cell phones and the pager.
The supervisors directed the secretary to advertise a budget meeting for Thursday, October
14th at 7 PM and a second budget meeting and the proposed budget ready for public review
on Wednesday, October 27th at 7 PM.
Herman Clemens moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:05 PM, Larry Zimmerman seconded the
motion, all were in favor and motion carried 5 to 0.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kathy Ferguson
